Ann McCutchan, River Music: An Atchafalaya Story and Circular Breathing: Meditations From a Musical Life
Ann McCutchan's writing
springs from deep interests in music, art, nature, and creativity, and the ways
they shape individuals, places, and history. Her early books include a
biography of French flute virtuoso Marcel Moyse and a collection of interviews
with composers about the creative process -- both significant contributions to
the literature of music and creativity.
Two new titles are forthcoming in 2011: an essay collection titled Circular
Breathing: Meditations From a Musical Life, and River Music: An
Atchafalaya Story, a double biography of Louisiana musician Earl Robicheaux
and the vanishing Atchafalaya River Basin he preserves and celebrates in
sound. Ann will tour with both books during September and October.
Ann is currently working on a new book exploring the world of the Apollo Space
Program in her Florida hometown, addressing the natural environment, native and
transient communities, cultural changes of the 1960s, politics of the Space
Race, and the impact of that particular time and place on Florida Space Coast
residents, including her family.
